FAYETTE – Roger Lee Kunkle, age 99, of Fayette, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, August 16, 2024.
Born in a farmhouse at Fayette, Ohio on July 12, 1925, he was the third son of Arthur Glen and Louetta Edith (Zimmerman) Kunkle.
He attended Fayette High School, graduating in 1943. He married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Robison, in 1943. They celebrated their 81st wedding anniversary on August 10, the second longest recorded marriage in Ohio.
Roger was a lifelong farmer, with an agricultural lime business for many years. For over 50 years, Roger and Beverly enjoyed spending winters in Florida.
Surviving is his wife, Beverly; four children, Jane Moor, Julie (Jeffrey) Altman, Sally (Dennis) Robinson, and Larry (Nancy) Kunkle; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Wayne and Helena Kunkle, Gahlon and Betty Kunkle, and Max and Paula Borton; a son-in-law, Herb Moor; and a granddaughter, Kayleen Benner.
Visitation for Roger will be held at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Fayette on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Vicki Schnitkey, officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette.
